Every conceivable project has been done ten times over to this admired chassis — from crazy conversions and paint schemes to full-blown JDM replicas. You would think the platform would have been played out by now, yet nearly 14 years later, these hatchbacks are still being snatched from their previous owners with dreams of becoming the ultimate JDM beast.Adam Nelson has been triumphant in completing such projects. Peering into Adam’s past, you will find a realm of pure JDM devotion. He has worked with everything from a 1984 CVCC Turbo Shuttle Wagon to a 1996 Integra sporting a JDM Type-R conversion. With those projects successfully accomplished, it was time to hit the track with something that would petrify others competing against him.Adam had his eyes set on something strictly JDM; something others couldn’t acquire so easily. And through a few connections, his destined counterpart would be on a boat departing from Japan to Long Beach, Calif. Once word was received that his new set of wheels was docked at the harbor, Adam immediately rushed over to claim his new project and found that it wasn’t all he had imagined it would be. The 1995 Honda Civic SiR he purchased was in pieces; with the hood, bumper, doors and other small pieces crammed into the cabin. Adam called a towing company but they could do nothing for him, considering the entire cross member and the front wheels were missing. Five minutes later, he located a cross member and around midnight, the car was on its way to Adam’s house on wood blocks.Considering most JDM enthusiasts spend half their lives trying to obtain the rare parts the EG6 has to offer, there was no need to alter its appearance inside or outside. A simple paint job and a blue Bride driver’s seat sporting the fashionable gradation sequence was all that was needed. The hatch was restored to its original state and painted gray.Adam slammed the hatchback on a set of Enkei Evo 5 wheels and replaced the wood blocks with a set of Tein SR coilovers.Without a second thought, the JDM B16 was dropped like Mel Gibson’s DUI charges and in exchange, came a K20A ripped from a 2004 Acura RSX. In order to compete with any other K-swapped Honda, Adam rebuilt the motor from the bottom up. Golden Nugget - 1993 Honda Civic CX(http://aycu05.webshots.com/image/46724/2002993164187195842_rs.jpg) (http://allyoucanupload.webshots.com/v/2002993164187195842)If Richard Trujilo knew what his 1993 Honda Civic hatchback would look like now, he probably would shoot himself for being so stupid by spending all that money. Actually his wife would probably do it before it got to where it stands today. Well, Richard we here at Jtuned don’t think you’re dumb at all! Actually, we’re happy you spent all that money so we have this opportunity exploit your car to the world!Richard has never been a fan of the big body kits and wings, So he decided he would make it a “sleeper†After lots of research Richard decided on a Civic CX Hatchback. He knew he wanted this model because of its light weight, no power robbing power steering and air conditioning. It took him about 2 months of searching but he finally found a Grey 93 Honda Civic CX with 167,000 miles on it. He wasn’t too concerned with the mileage since he knew he would be replacing the engine and drive-train with that of a Del Sol. Richard’s whole goal was to go strictly sleeper style. He was going to keep the car stock height, get some stock 14†wheels widened for a bigger tire upfront front and drop in the B16A which would have plenty of power. Now this sounds really familiar because like some of us at Jtuned (Jason) say the same thing. But just like any project car, one thing lead to another. After picking up the B16A2 from Mike Escamilla who also helped with the install he then came across a great deal on a Type R head that was actually off of a Speedvision Realtime Touring Cup Integra Type R. Yes, that’s right Richard is running a illegal head on his motor, and if it ain’t legal for Speedvision it sure ain’t legal for California roads. Unsatisfied by the performance of his exisiting transmission Richard called his good friend Kevin Serapion at Autolink Motorworks who came across a great deal on an Integra Type R Transmission. After the tranny was thrown in, then came the new exhaust. Andre from Fabtech Fabrications built the custom 2 3/8 exhaust. Next thing you know the car is lowered with rims, JDM headlights and JDM ITR seats. So much for this Civic being a sleeper.Well, by this time Richard has come to the point where many import enthusiasts can’t help but only go further w/ their asthetic modifications. And what’s more better than a new paint job. In January of 2000, Richard’s dad and uncle decided to open up a body shop. Since business was extremely slow at the beginning, they decided to paint the car and use it to promote the bodyshop. I don’t know about you, but when my friends give me advice on how I should modify my own car, I never listen. Richard on the other hand took the advice Shaun Carlson from Nuformz Racing who suggested that he go with PPG’s Flame Yellow Pearl. And that was probably the best decision he ever made. The paint explodes with color that cameras cannot capture and do justice with. The amount of pearl and fine detail put into all the body work is something that cries for attention. This is something that must be just appreciated in person. The custom roll bar made Marks Fab Shop of Alta Loma was then also painted along w/ the car. Coming this far w/ a car like this, many friends encouraged Richard to enter the vehicle into a car show. The first time out the car was awarded Meguiars Best Paint finish award. Wanting to promote the body shop some more, Richard then decided to go a little crazier with the show stuff, but with the intention of being show and go. Kevin at Autolink Motorworks suggested that he go after the JDM performance look and came up with all the Mugen, Spoon and JDM SIR parts. After showing the car for the last year and a half, Richard has decided to play with the car a bit. Even with its show quality paint and flawless body work the car was even taken out to Willow Springs and on the big track and ran a time of 1:39.6. And for all you drag fans this car ran a best of 13.18@102.6 mph at Pomona Raceway on M&H slicks. Even at this point we can’t stop appreciating extremely cleanly built Civic hatchbacks. This 1994 Civic Hatch has a lengthy list of clean JDM parts to keep an 11 year old car grabbing attention like none other. With the exterior, the headlights, foglights, front lip, sidemarkers and rear taillights all came from a JDM EG6. Vision corners along with a carbon fiber hood and wing offsets the white chassis with the Spoon mirrors as the finishing touch. On the interior, plenty more JDM goods found their way home. Bride Ergo seats and Takata harnesses are the highlights amidst all the JDM EG6 goods. Under the hood, a B16A swap found its way in with a completely built head by LHT Performance. Consisting of ITR cams, Skunk2 cam gears, Ferrea valvetrain and a Mugen headgasket, the B16A head is fed plenty of air with a series of boltons. A Top Fuel intake shoves air into the motor via the Skunk2 intake manifold, as it goes through a JDM ITR header, and out a Spoon N1 axle back exhaust. Several more Spoon Sports goodies take residence as well with plenty of other JDM amenities.The car is lowered with Tanabe Sustec Pro coilovers sitting on the extremely clean 15" Sprint Hart CPF wheels. Every wheel is wrapped with Yokohama ES100 tires in a 195/50/15 size and Spoon lugs ensure each wheel is bolted on properly. The function of components is often preferred over cosmetic appeal.znaci izgled je u drugom planu. a obicno u tom nekom style-u ide:felne tipa enkei, rota, mugen.....itd od 15" do 16"zuti prednji zmigavciprednji lip (mugen, spoon, type r, vti)spoon zadnji spojlerOEM JDM maglenkespoon retrovizoriitd....ili sve ovo, ili samo nesto od ovoga, ili nista tj. potpuni stock....sve je to jdm stylea tuning....njavazniji je balans, dobro/skupo vjesanje, kocnice.... s jedne strane i motor sa druge. obicni se ubacuju motori iz jacih hondi (ITR b18c6, CTR k20...) i uglavnom se tjuniraju do nekih 280 ks (jer ipak je to FWD). i pretezno ostaju NA, mada neko voli i turbo.e da, auto se i maksimalno olasksava...sad sve zavisi koliko ko duboko zeli da ide...to je neka definicija JDM na civicu. e sad cijena... previse je skupo zato sto su svi djelovi strogo iz japana, znaci i oni u ameriku djelove naruvuju iz japana. po mojoj procijeni, za 10.000,00 eur se moze imat masina kao iz predhodnih slika. ps ovo sam na brzinu napiso, pa ako nesto nije jasno....tu sam

You see, Kyle has a very metropolitan, almost sophisticated way about him. He has a classy demeanor and he looks good like he just stepped out of a fashion magazine. I mean the dude’s nickname is “Pradaâ€. Yet, KR is a proud Honda man and in his own words, he loves building “stupid little cars with stupid big motorsâ€. And this, my fiendish friends, is no exception to that rule.Last time this hatch was dyno’d it made over 700 whp but that’s still about a hundred shy of Kyle’s true comfort zone. “I’m going for 800 horsepower. That’s the magic number†he told me when we talked. For most, 800 horsepower is usually more of a “comfort zone†when talking about airplanes not cars; particularly those weighing only around 2000lbs or so.“I’ve been through 3 motors so far and have had some tough breaks with this car.†Kyle and his good friend Jeff Williams, who he originally met back in Virginia where they were raised, have done 95% of the work on this Civic themselves. They’ve been through some good times and bad times together and the climb has been a rewarding challenge.“A while back, Jeff and I stayed up for 3 days and nights straight to work on the car so that we could get it ready for an event. In fact, we swapped a motor, built a roll cage and did a ton of other work in only 7 days. We’re crazy like that. We love it.†Consequently, Kyle holds the record at Starbuck’s for the most shots of espresso ever consumed by one person in a day, 18 to be precise. Well, not really. He doesn’t hold the record.“We’re getting ready to run this car at a few drag events but we still have a few things to do†explained Kyle. “We still need to put a better clutch in as we blew the last one, along with some new cams and an upgraded drive train.†At this point, I’d like to add that Carbon8 will be covering this work for your viewing and reading pleasure as we plan using Kyle’s Civic for some future tech pieces. “After we get that work done we plan on taking the car to some BOTI and maybe even some HIN events on the west coast to show it.â€I’m sure this car will be well received wherever it goes as it doesn’t seem to matter how many seriously built up Civic’s we see, they just never get old. There’s something deliciously tenuous about taking such a little body and stuffing it almost to the point of overflowing with motor and raw horsepower. It’s like jamming a subway car full of caffeine spiked commuters and letting a rattlesnake loose. You just never know what’s going to happen.
